2018 Colossal Sculpture Burn

at Spring in the Park

If you missed the awe-inspiring sculpture burn of the 30-foot wooden structure by artist Andrew Nigh, here's the video. From that first spark and series of little explosions that fanned out the "flower," all the way until the flames lit the crowd's faces as they circled the beautiful aftermath, the only word we can think of is mesmerizing.

Celebrating its second anniversary, the highlight of the night was a sculpture burn. A wooden structure designed and built by artist Andrew Nigh was set ablaze, much to the delight of thousands of onlookers.

Video of the performance art of Atlanta-area artist Allen Peterson. Molten iron is poured into bee-shaped molds and "flown" around a field of flammable flowers. As a hot bee touches a flower, it bursts into flame. All the while, the sounds of bees in a hive (recorded by the artist) is played in the background.
This video explains the 100-year history of Montague Park and how Sculpture Fields came about. It also is a request for continued donations to finish the work already started.

The culmination of years of planning and work, Sculpture Fields at Montague Park opened fully to the public the weekend of April 8-9, 2016. This video is a commemoration of what led to that weekend and a documentation of the events of that weekend.
Internationally respected sculptor Peter Lundberg brings his considerable talents to the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. His 65' tall concrete and steel piece named "Anchors" is the centerpiece of a new and exciting venue called "Sculpture Fields at Montague Park."
